F I N A L

This photo was taken at my favourite artist, aMEI's UTOPIA World Tour. I enjoy watching concerts as it allows me to forget about all my works and other personal problems. Whenever I'm in a concert, I feel like I can set all my problems aside and just focus on enjoying the concert as if I'm living in a dimension with no worries. The concert name was Utopia, which is an imagined community that possessed highly desirable qualities. I feel like I am really living in Utopia whenever I'm in a concert, whereby I can set aside all my prejudice and live in harmony with all the person around me even if they are complete stranger to me.

P.S: This is the final blog entry for this module. I just wanted to say I really enjoyed this module as it really allow me to develop my creative juice.

EMPATHY

What is Empathy?

It is an ability to understand and share the feelings of another
Connection
Being that person to feel them.
There's nothing to do with feeling sorry
_____________________________________________________

In this lesson, we've learn that it is important to have empathy towards others.

Is love a need or a want
In my opinion, I feel that love is a need because love enable us to motivate ourself to be a better person. Love does not only include boy-girl relationship, it also involve caring, empathy and many other factors which help us to develop ourself. Thus, it is not a want as without love, we can't be a better self.

I hate myself so much back in secondary school, people will calling me names when I  brought my Nike handbag to school. I don't know how did I overcome at the point of time. Why can't they just shut their mouth and mind their on business?

To me empthay is so much important than anything. If every single human out there could feel and understand each and everyone, they will be no misunderstanding situation.

FORCE CONNECTION

This week we were tasked to watch "Shark Tank" (It is a show that allows Entrepreneurs to showcase their product and seek for potential investor)  and search for products related to Force Connection.

So this product I had found was on Season 4 Episode 19.

(Byron Young)

Byron Young was showcasing the CordaRoy's Beanbag and offered the audience to purchase 20% of the company's stake for $200k. Lori, however, offered to purchase 60% of the company's stake for $200k which subsequently reduced to 58%.

This product is related to force connection as it combines the idea of beanbag and a bed. Personally, I always wanted to purchase a beanbag as it is really comfortable. The idea of combining with a bed is fantastic as it now serve more purpose.

T E N T H

I chance upon this shop at Marina Square last weekend. Unlike those typical retail store, this shop is an interesting shop as it sells a wide range of unique product which includes clothing, artwork as well as innovative electronic devices. In order to stay competitive, many retail store only sell a certain category of product so that people who are looking for a specific product will patronise their store whenever they have a need. This store, however, suits people like me. With no specific needs, I often walk aimlessly around a mall to search for inspiration. Walking into such a store allowed me to discover many interesting product that people have came out with. Furthermore, I've gain many interesting inspiration by browsing around the store. I guess I've found a place for me to generate my creative juice.

CRITICISM

As a human, it's always easy to criticise other's work. However, it is never easy for me to criticise peer's work. This is because we have been doing the same assignment and I know it's not easy for them to do what they had done till date. It is common for people to take criticism in a negative way, especially when you do not agree with the person's critique. Thus, during the process of critiquing other's work, I tend to take into account of the person's feeling as well as the handwork they had put in so far. Having said that, it is important to maintain professionalism too. Criticism is a form of feedback to allow other to learn their mistake and improve on their work. Thus, it is important to maintain the balance between professionalism and considering people's feeling.

N I N E T H

Due to the increasing work assignment, this post came a little later than usual. This photo was taken when I was rushing my assignment at the Starbucks. I always enjoyed doing work alone at Starbucks as I will be more focused in whatever I do. Furthermore, there's great food and beverages (my favourite GREEN tea latte with low fat milk) around! Whenever I look around me, I always see many people in a rush. This led me to ponder the meaning of life if everything that we do is always in a rush. To me, I feel that what's more important in life is to enjoy what you are doing. At times, it's better to slow down what you are doing and enjoy what's around you.

ANALOGICAL THINKING

What is Analogical Thinking?

Analogical Thinking is what we do when we use information from one domain (A Source) to help solve a problem in another domain (To a Target). Experts often use analogies during the process of problem solving and analogies have been involved in numerous scientific discoveries.

Similes, metaphors and analogies are thinking strategies that provide new ideas for problem-soling by making associations between objects that seem dissimilar.

Comparison between two things, typically on the basic of their structure and for the purpose of explanation or clarification.

_______________________________________________________________________

There is 3 types of "Analogical Thinking"

1 - Similes

Uses "likeness" to establish a connection.

Example.  Happy like a UNICORNS !

2 - Metaphors

Metaphors and similes are both ways to compare things. We use metaphors and similes every day, but it can be hard to remember just which is which

Example. "My teacher is an angel" Which means that my teacher is very nice

3 - Analogies

Analogy is comparable to metaphor and simile in that it shows how two different things are similar, but it is a bit more complex.

There is 4 Types of Analogy

Personal Analogy / Direct Analogy / Symbolic Analogy / Fantasy Analogy

I feel that analogical thinking enable us to put things in to perspective.

S E V E N T H / E I G T H

I have visited the THAIFANTASTIC at Tanjong Pagar Railway station this weekend. It is a flea market organised by fleawhere and it's my first time visiting this Railway station. I'm very glad that I've came to this event where history, food, culture and people meet together. As the name suggest, this flea market is a combination of flea and thai cuisine. Most of the food and things sold are all thai-oriented and they are FANTASTIC. Even though

BATTLE ROYALE

This movie is about surviving in a "game" whereby only the winner get to stay alive. Each year, a class of students will be randomly selected and to a deserted island for a game name "Battle Royale". In order to survive, the participants must obey the rules and eliminate other contestants. This game is a result of school violence and rising unemployment rate where the government decided to create the Battle Royale Law.

I feel that what resulted in this situation is poor communication between the older generation and the millennium. The law was made as the new generations show poor attitude and unmotivated to progress. However, it does not resolve any problem. Although it increases the millennium's will to survive in this society, it will not correct the mindset of theirs. Furthermore, those who were killed were not given a chance to correct their mistake. In order to resolve this whole situation, the government should focus on educating the new generation by other means.

____________________________________________________________

WHO WILL I KILL IF IM IN THIS SITUATION

In the event when I am in this situation, i will hope to gather as many allies as possible and form an opposition team to overcome the people manipulating this game. I'll hope that everyone will be calm  enough and trustworthy enough so that we can gather our forces together to fight the enemy. However, in the event whereby 1 person have to die, I will rather be the one who die as I do not wish to experience the fear and torture of the game. I do not wish to harm anyone in order to survive as it is very cruel and inhumane. That been said, I will try to find a "comfortable" way to die so that I will not experience the slow torture and pain.

LATERAL THINKING

In this week lesson, we were introduced a new term called the Lateral thinking! To put it simply, Lateral thinking involves problem solving with an indirect and creative approach, using reasoning that is not directly obvious. To me, I am not a person that is able to think out of the box. Very often, I require people’s assistant to think creatively. This week’s lesson enables be to look at things in a different perspective.

The most memorable scenario asked was the if I was in a deserted house, which item will I light up first. To my surprise, only one person managed to get the correct answer. After this lesson, I’ve learnt that in many cases, we should always try to look for answer from a different perspective and not just look for the easiest and direct answer.

S I X T H

This week, I visited the Gardens by the bay. Out of the many other different attractions, I feel that this is the most beautiful place in Singapore. Not only that this place contains many different species of flowers, the layout and lightings is simply amazing. No matter during the day or at night, this place definitely can bring me enjoyable experience. I was quite disappointed with the crowd as many of them are using their phone instead of enjoying the scenery. This occurs in many other attractions I visited too! In this digital era, many of us lives within the technological world and forgot to slow down and enjoy the scenery which is quite saddening. Lucky for me, I managed to enjoy every single bit of the view!

Edward de Bono

Born in 19 May 1933, Edward de Bono is the author of the book Six Thinking Hats and originated the term lateral thinking. After attaining his medical degree at University of Malta, de Bono then gotten the Master of arts in psychology and physiology at Christ Church, Oxford. He then earned a Ph.D degree in medicine from Trinity College, Cambridge, and LLD from the University of Dundee.

Known as the father of ‘lateral thinking, de Bono introduced the concept in 1967, where he published his first book ‘The use of Lateral Thinking’. Having dedicating his life to help people improve their thinking abilities and creativity skills, his courses such as Six Thinking Hats method and thinking tools have been employed by various institutions and organisations around the world. These skills and have been proven to help people to make smarter decision faster. ‘Six Thinking Hats’ is considered as one of de Bono’s greatest literary works where he provides detailed insight of parallel thinking and critical thinking. Other useful thinking techniques de Bono produced includes the power of perception, focus on facilitation, simplicity and six value medals

In 1992, de Bono became became the first recipient of the ‘Capire Prize’ in Europe, for his outstanding achievement. SINGAPORE NIGHT FESTIVAL 2016

It's another year of Singapore Night Festival! This is the 9th times that Singapore is holding this event at Bras Basah! I had been to this event last year and I really enjoyed a lot, especially with the awesome food and the interesting exhibit around. I'm quite surprised that it's the 9th year already as I only get to know of this event last year. In this post, I will be show the places I had went and will focus more on the exclusive exhibition that only happen in this year's Singapore Night Festival!

LET THE JOURNEY BEGINNNN...

(At the Festival Village)

So, the first place I had visited is the Festival village around SMU Campus! This area is like an Atas Version "Pasar Malam" where great food, music and artwork meets! They are selling a lot of different trendy items, yummy but overpriced food and they is also a photo booth! There are also various performances by the local musician at the Festival village stage.

(Shop @ Festival Village)

(Shop @ Festival Village)

The atmosphere here is simply AMAZING, it give me a very cosy feeling! The performances and lighting really lighten up the atmosphere in this area. If only Singapore's weather is cooler it will be so much better. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable experience!

(Festival Village Stage)

After enjoying all the great food and performances, I went to the National Museum of Singapore. The weather was so warm that I can't wait to go indoor to catch the cold air first!

Before entering the National Museum, I was caught up by the amazing light show at the doorstep of the museum. It is the KEYFRAMES brought by Groupe LAPS. The display was so cool that I just can't bring myself to enter the Museum.

I'm actually surprise that they are many people who went up and donate. This show how much people supports the artwork in Singapore! That is very touching to know.

(Night Lights: Shifting Interations)

Here is a performances by LASALLE's students. The students use props with their dance move together with the music. It was an interesting performance as it make use of sound, light and dances to present a series of perfomanes.

There are many interesting programme at the Armenian Street which includes the Peranakan Museum Variety Show by Main Wayang. They were performing some interesting songs that made in Singapore, tourist can get to know more about Singapore just by the lyrics in the song and it actually give me a "Ge Tai" feel.

(Armenian Street)

Within the Armenian street, there are many different alleys. Out of all, I love this alley as the lighting, graffiti walls and the building is simply amazing!

Before taking a closer look, I didn't even realised that this exhibit made use of lightings from the projectors! This is another exhibit that make use of simple instruments but brings out a very unique experience in the night festival.

To me this looks like a wishing waterfall with all the lights on the floor means all the wishing that the people had wished for. People just stop using phone and form shapes and letters with the lights.
